Blue Ireland Magazine:

Blue Ireland is Ireland’s first adult magazine and will be available from Monday 24th May. Aiming to be Ireland’s answer to Playboy, Blue Ireland includes photo’s of Irish girls baring all, sexy stories and in depth articles investigating Ireland’s thriving Swinging and BDSM cultures. There are a huge number of American and British magazines available in Ireland’s shops, but until now we have been denied a magazine of our own.

Editor Ami O’Brien, from Wexford, says, “I’ve always wondered why Ireland should be one of the only countries in Europe without a domestic adult magazine. We’re a mature society and I think a pretty sexy one. Blue Ireland is designed to celebrate that. We hope that people will enjoy the magazine and it will broaden some people’s horizons”.

Blue Ireland has been four months in the making and is now available online and will be in the shops soon.

Q&A with Editor Ami O’Brien

Q: Do you think Ireland is ready for its own adult magazine?
A: Absolutely. Ireland has grown up a lot in the last few years. A lot of the guilt that surrounded sex, the hypocrisy, has gone. Ireland is crying out for a magazine like this, that not only celebrates the beauties of Ireland but is a bit naughty and fun.

Q: What features are in your magazine?
A: As well as the all the sexy girls our in house photographer snapped, there are pictures our readers send in. There are naughty stories, rude jokes and regular columns: Wicklow Waitress, Sex and Relationship Advice, Adult Toy reviews, Out of the Blue (a travel column) and much more. There are features taking an in-depth look at the many different aspects of the Irish adult scene, looking at BDSM & Swinging in the first issue.

Q: Are you exploiting the models?
A: Absolutely not. Posing for us is as much about exhibitionism as it is about money. Who are we to judge someone’s legitimate and chosen expression of their sexuality and beauty? Plus we’re careful to select only those models that are happy and comfortable with sharing their photos, whether because they enjoy the thrill of it or because they like the extra cash.
